Jane Brideson’s Wisdom of the Cailleach deck1 is one of the finest oracles I’ve ever had the pleasure to hold in my hands. Ever since I returned from Ireland last month and had that tremendous experience at Slieve Na Calliagh, I’ve kept the cards near my elbow.
Over and over, I’ve pulled the Crossroads.
Sure, this is a universal message. It’s especially important for those of us in the US (and everyone touched by American policy which is… just about every animal, vegetable, and mineral on Earth).
It’s also particularly resonant for me because the most successful workshop I’ve ever offered was about discernment and making powerful choices at the crossroads of life.
Now is the time to return to that idea in a renewed way.Â

The crossroads are a potent symbol in mythology.Â
They are alive with choice. They are a liminal space. They are a place for death and dancing.Â
At the crossroads, anything can happen.
And, sometimes, when we reach a creative crossroads, unsure what’s the next best thing to do or say, we can get overwhelmed. We can get lost in the wilderness of possibility - and not in a good way.
On December 4 and 6 (two workshops with the same general content offered at different times to accommodate my global community) you can expect:Â
Practical tips and tools that will help you make choices and determine the direction your writing in 2025
Guided self-inquiry and carefully crafted writing prompts that will reveal your true passions and priorities when it comes to writing, self-expression, and your sense of purpose.
Practices that will help you determine the strategies necessary to accomplish your writing goals, whether that’s getting established on Substack, making progress on your memoir, completing your non-fiction book project, or expanding your creative practice in a brave new direction.
And this is all offered to you through the mythic lens that you know from these pages. You can expect a journey into the imaginal realm, archetypal guides, and other glints of magic - even as we get grounded into the real-world goals you have as writer and creative in the new year.
