I relate with this so deeply, Marisa, thank you for sharing your journey. Sometimes I feel like I've been story-pregnant for way too long... but I have to continue to trust the process/ needed gestation times. Blessings to you on this sacred day! <3

Oh, those unending "story pregnancies" are so hard, but I really do believe that the ability to really let a story take its own time is so much more rewarding than rushing it. From my experience you simply can't rush things - not if you want to honor the integrity of the myth and your own storyteller's heart.

"I tell this story with the awareness that, at some level, I do accept these changes because, rather than going on strike in protest, I go about my work and focus on the needs of the people and creatures who are close enough to touch each day." Oof, Marisa 💔 This week, I went to a singing circle not realising everyone there is preparing for a big march for Palestine later this month. And I got this exact feeling you describe, of accepting this situation on some level, and it's uncomfortable.

Thank you for seeing this painful bit of truth in the midst of the rest of the mythic talk, Annette. It's a constant tug at the soul and the mind:

Could I do more?

What is mine to do?

What else myst I do when this work of tending the hearts at home is work that only I can do?

Who will show up on the streets and call in the great change we need if we all stay home doing the tender work that only we can do?

What happens to us all at the micro level and the intergenerational level if no one is home to do the tiny invisible work that only we can do?

And on and on, and round and round it goes.

How I hear you and feel this, Marisa! The truth is, not everybody can march. And I remind myself of adrienne maree brown"s take on fractal systems (ie. identical patterns repeated at different scales, from the micro to the macro) : If none of us are practicing empathy and care and democracy in our everyday lives, they're not going to suddenly appear at the macro level and take over the world.

The story that has leapt forth to partner with me has been, without the shadow of a doubt, that if the Selkie, and I believe now is the time for me to tell it. ✨🦭🪷

"We only understand what’s really happening when we can find the time and distance to stand outside of the tumult of transformation." This morning I have received this or a similar message three times. A story pounding at my door.

Oh, I so appreciate you highlighting this line, Myra! It came out in a rush at the end after what felt like way too many edits to the beginning and middle.

So eager to hear more about what story is knocking, and so grateful to stand with at the transformational doorway of the tumult!

It’s funny, I can’t remember certain stories, “myths” or “folklore” when I want to but when the energies of the earth stir they come to me as similar as my daily routine. I’ve never connected that certain stories or traumas of my lived experience is the same.

What an interesting thought inspiration that’s been invoked by reading your words.
